Hi, I’m Matilda and I am part of a homework club. This year there is a worldwide pandemic that started last year in the beginning of march. That is why I’m in a homework club, because we have to do things that would normally be in class work as homework. Nothing this year is normal, but enough about that. I really enjoy the pod because I get to see my friends. There are only four other girls in the club, my really good friend Emma, who I knew in day care, Kit-Kat who I met the summer of second grade, Dif Stuff, who I became friends with in third grade, and Ms. Dragonfly, our tutor who we met this year. Emma, Kit-Kat, Dif Stuff, and I are in fourth grade at lockeland. Today started out normal , or as normal as possible that is, we joined the zoom meeting, talked a little and then got started doing homework. Ms. Dragonfly was sharing her screen to show us something, when things started getting weird. A message popped up on Ms. Dragonfly’s screen, but it wasn’t just addressed to Ms. Dragonfly, it was addressed to all of us. Ms. Dragonfly pulled up the message on her screen and it read,
Dear Ms. Dragonfly, Matilda, Emma, Kit-Kat, and Dif Stuff,
I am a member of a secret society and have been assigned the task to invite you to the society. We have been observing you for a few weeks to see if you would be a good addition. We decided that you are very good for different reasons. Ms. Dragonfly is very organised and has ideas of what to do in a time of need. Matilda can be very quiet when walking and is good for missions. Emma is very creative and can come up with ways to improve the society. Kit-Kat is very productive, artsy, and is good at cheering people up. Dif Stuff is funny and curious. This is why we think and want you to join. If you are interested, come to the front lawn of Lockeland by the big tree. Place your palm on the bump on the tree and enter 43997. Then enter the tunnel. Once you get to the doors in the big, open hall, go into door-number 36.

Someone
Weird right? Well we went to the big tree at lockeland. { if you remember that is our school } I pressed my palm on the bump { we did eeny miny mini mo and I was picked } and surprisingly the bump slid up! Under the bump was a key pad so I typed in the code, 43997. Three seconds after I typed the 7 a chunk the size of a big doorway popped out of the tree and slid to the left, revealing a big, black, tunnel. Kit-Kat, Emma, Dif Stuff, and I looked at the tunnel curiously, and all of us were wandering the same thing, where the tunnel leads. Ms. Dragonfly was wondering how the tree did that and how long it took to build either the tree or to make it so it could do that. She is very detailed and always wanders that sort of thing at weird times. Emma, Kit-Kat, and Dif Stuff were very surprised and frightened, but what exactly did they expect? Me on the other hand stepped toward the tunnel to go in, because I am always ready for adventure. Emma being the wearier she is, put her hand out to stop me and said, “ Wait you don’t know if it’s safe! It could be a trap.” I was a tiny bit annoyed at this but didn’t show it and said back, “ Well you’re right I don't know if it’s completely safe, but don’t you want to know what this is about? Plus Ms. Dragonfly’s with us.” This really calmed Emma Down as well as the other girls. So with that settled we all took our first few steps into the pitch black tunnel.
